The design brief for this 1300 square-foot house was that it function for the tasks of both living and working. Renovation stripped back much of the interior structure and all ornamentation. The new layout has two areas—open living space and private quarters. The once low ceilings are now ten feet. An application of dark stain transformed the ubiquitous red oak flooring. Pale and tonal materials repeat throughout the space. Visual simplicity calms the transition between the daily rhythms of living and working.
